IUMI Webinar: Panel debate on cyber security in the maritime industry - different perspectives

Digital solutions are increasingly entwined in global supply chains. The shipping industry is no exception: Its reliance on digitalization for the completion of everyday tasks is on the rise. Advances in information technology enable data availability and increase the speed of processing and data transfer. This development presents all stakeholders involved in the maritime supply chain with growing potential for operational optimisation, improved safety and a more sustainable business.

At the same time, the digital revolution relies on increasing connectivity between servers, IT systems and OT systems. More connectivity amplifies cyber vulnerabilities and exposure to cyber attacks. This means that the inherent risks that this brings to a shipping business are both regulatory and financial.

In this webinar, an exceptional group of speakers from different domains of the maritime industry share their views and debate the status of cyber security in the maritime industry:

  • Kevin K. Adams, GRCP, Marine Transportation System Cybersecurity Specialist / US Coast Guard First District
  • May Jensen, Director of Risk Management / CSL Group (Canada Steamship Lines)
  • Vincent Lagny, Cyber Systems Panel Chair – Bureau Veritas representing IACS
  • Philip Ponsford, Deputy Chief Cyber Officer – Astaara

The panel discussion and Q&A with the audience will be moderated by Howard Potter, Head Marine Cyber UW – Astaara and a Member of IUMI’s Loss Prevention Committee.

Questions can also be submitted prior to the webinar to education@iumi.com.
