Costa Concordia dismantling and recycling complete

The dismantling and recycling of cruise ship Costa Concordia, which was conducted under the latest European environmental and safety regulations and leading to it being one of the most expensive salvage operations ever, has been completed in Genoa by San Giorgio del Porto, in partnership with Saipem. The wreck arrived in Genoa, on July 27th, 2014. The process engaged more than 350 workers and took about a million hours of work. Of the 78 companies involved, 76 were Italian. About 90% of the materials on the Concordia were recycled, equal to more than 53,000 t.
