Students who have completed the IUMI online cargo or hull insurance tutorials may opt to be examined in their chosen discipline. The pass mark is 65% with a distinction demanding 90% or higher. Those who pass are eligible to apply to IUMI for a partial bursary for the Marine Insurance Law & Practice Postgraduate Diploma offered by the World Maritime University.
This year, we are delighted to award a partial bursary to Yoshan Ekanayake, a Sri Lankan national currently working in New Zealand for the Insurance Australia Group. Yoshan says that embarking on the programme at the WMU will significantly contribute to his career by equipping him with an internationally recognised and strong academic foundation. It will enable him to progress into advisory and consultancy roles within the marine insurance industry while allowing him to contribute positively to the development, professionalism and sustainability of maritime commerce, both within New Zealand and internationally.
