IUMI Affiliates

We cooperate and work alongside many insurance and maritime associations and organisations. As far as possible we aim to share knowledge and assist one another in enhancing safety, improving standards and raising levels of technical competence and education. These are the entities that we work most closely with:

International Association of Average Adjusters (Association Mondiale de Dispacheurs AMD)

AMD, through qualified average adjusting personnel, provides average adjusting and claims consultancy services in the marine environment. The members of the association provide worldwide solutions with sound advice and well reasoned opinions in a variety of languages.

ALSUM

ALSUM, the Latin American Association of Marine Underwriters, is a non-profit foundation comprising insurance and reinsurance companies with a presence in Latin America.

BIMCO

BIMCO is the world’s leading shipowner association providing expert knowledge and practical advice to safeguard and add value to its members’ businesses.

CINS – Cargo Incident Notification System

CINS is a shipping line initiative, launched in September 2011, developed to increase safety in the supply chain, reduce the number of cargo incidents on-board ships and highlight the risks caused by certain cargoes and/or packing failures.

Comité Maritime International (CMI)

A non-governmental not-for-profit international organization established in Antwerp in 1897, the object of which is to contribute by all appropriate means and activities to the unification of maritime law in all its aspects.

The Federation of European Maritime Associations of Surveyors and Consultants

FEMAS is a federation of maritime associations to help locate European ship surveyors and marine consultants.

International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations

FIATA unites the freight forwarding industry worldwide and represents, promotes and protect the interests of the industry by participating as advisors or experts in meetings of international bodies dealing with transportation.

International Association of Classification Societies

Dedicated to safe ships and clean seas, IACS makes a unique contribution to maritime safety and regulation through technical support, compliance verification and research and development. More than 90% of the world’s cargo carrying tonnage is covered by the classification design, construction and through-life compliance rules and standards set by the twelve member societies of IACS.

International Chamber of Commerce

ICC provides a forum for businesses and other organisations to examine and better comprehend the nature and significance of the major shifts taking place in the world economy. It also offer an influential and respected channel for supplying business leadership to help governments manage those shifts in a collaborative manner for the benefit of the world economy as a whole.

International Chamber of Shipping

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) is the principal international trade association for the shipping industry, representing shipowners and operators in all sectors and trades.

International Group of P&I Clubs

The International Group is an association of the world’s leading P&I Clubs which delivers the group pool system; representation of the views of the club’s members to a range of international, national and regional authorities and agencies; and a discussion forum for relevant matters.

Intercargo

INTERCARGO is the short name for the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners. Established in 1980 with the objective of giving a voice to shipowners, managers and operators of dry cargo vessels and represent better this shipping sector. The power of INTERCARGO, like its partner shipping associations, is that collectively, it is possible to change bulk carrier industry for the better in a world where one bulk carrier shipowner acting on its own finds it most difficult to make itself heard and facilitate progress.

International Maritime Organization

The United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships.

Interferry

Interferry is a highly respected shipping association representing the ferry industry world-wide. There are currently over 200 members (representing more than 600 individuals) from 35 countries.

International Association of Independent Tanker Owners

INTERTANKO is a forum where independent tanker owners meets, policies are discussed and best practice developed. It is a valuable source of first-hand information, opinions and guidance. INTERTANKO stands for safe transport, cleaner seas and free competition.

International Salvage Union

The International Salvage Union (ISU) is the sole representative organisation for the international marine salvage industry with a membership of 55 salvage companies worldwide.

International Union of Aerospace Insurers

Formed in 1934, the International Union of Aerospace Insurance (IUAI) has been representing the interests of the aerospace insurance and reinsurance industry for over 80 years.

IVR

International Association for the representation of the mutual interests of the inland shipping and the insurance and for keeping the register of inland vessels in Europe.

Poseidon Principles Association for Marine Insurance

The Poseidon Principles for Marine Insurance are a framework to assess and disclose the climate alignment of marine insurers’ underwriting portfolios. The initiative works to provide transparency on carbon emissions, thereby supporting the shipping industry’s path toward decarbonistion.

Transported Asset Protection Association Europe

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) is a not-for-profit organisation formed in 1997 to help manufacturers and logistics service providers minimise risk in their supply chains.
