The IUMI Hull Inflation Index 2026
2026 Update
The updated Hull Inflation Index reduces its reliance on proprietary data by one variable. The one remaining non-public input is Clarkson’s Global Orderbook Forward Cover which we retained because it offers superior granularity and a longer time series than available alternatives.
Please find here the updated white paper and note that due to copyright considerations we were not able to release the original calculations.
For transparency however, we provide an Excel file with the calculations using a shipyard capacity index from Danish Ship Finance as a substitute for the Clarkson data. Two limitations to keep in mind: the model in the file covers a 10-year horizon only, and some multicollinearity has been observed. We therefore recommend treating this as a starting point rather than a plug-and-play solution – and encourage you to test alternative parameters where it fits your own modelling needs.
