Today, the Poseidon Principles for Marine Insurance have been launched publicly. The Principles establish a forward-looking framework to engage with the shipping industry and support net-zero insurance. They are designed to assess and disclose the climate alignment of marine hull insurers’ underwriting portfolios. This initiative makes marine insurance the first line of business to establish a sector-specific methodology to support the reduction, and ultimately the elimination, of GHG emissions.

IUMI is delighted to be a Supporting Partner of the PPMI. In this capacity IUMI will spread the word among our global membership for this tangible and concrete way for marine insurers to support the shipping industry on its path toward decarbonisation.
