The International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) is deeply saddened to learn about the loss of life that resulted from the collapse of the Baltimore Bridge and our sympathies lie with the families and loved ones of those who have died, as well as those who have been impacted in other ways.

Most economies rely on international seaborne trade which is enabled by a range of services including marine insurance. IUMI members provide insurance cover to merchant vessels and their cargoes and sit alongside other global insurers who provide complementary liability and other related cover. Together, the marine insurance sector is comprehensive, financially strong and capable of responding to this incident and fulfilling its obligations.
