The IMO 2020 regulations to reduce the sulphur limit to 0.5% have been in place just over a year. An industry survey carried out by BIMCO, International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), INTERCARGO and INTERTANKO into the transition to using very low-sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) since the beginning of 2020 has found that several issues have arisen for owners, charterers and insurers. The survey indicated global challenges with fuel characteristics and limits being off specifications as well as certain operational problems.
In this webinar, Charlotte Røjgaard, Global Head of Marine Fuel Services at Bureau Veritas’ VeriFuel shares observations on the IMO 2020 fuel qualities and offers a review of several problematic cases. This is followed by George Margetis, Managing Director at Margetis Maritime Consulting who addresses specific claims which have arisen due to the new fuel types.
Following the presentations, participants were invited to participate in a Q&A session.
