The effective use of marine forecast and warning tools plays a fundamental role to prevent the loss of lives and vessels. In this webinar Neal Moodie from the Marine Meteorology and Ocean Affairs Division of the World Meteorological Organization gives an introduction to the IMO/WMO Worldwide Met-Ocean Information and Warning Service (WWMIWS). In particular, Neal discusses marine forecast and warning products that are provided to mariners via SafetyNET and NAVTEX. These products are also provided via the WWMIWS web portal for fleet managers and organisations to use for planning and monitoring weather hazards. Neal also explains other graphical products that are available to insurers from national meteorological services.
