A pan over to IUMI Chicago 2022

Over 500 delegates convened in Chicago for the first IUMI Annual Conference in person since 2019. The conference was a great success, with over 500 delegates and guest speakers from around the world.

We express our gratitude to the American Institute of Marine Underwriters (AIMU). They were perfect hosts for this year’s event, with an array of workshops, delegations, presentations and panel discussions from 17th to 22nd September.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Adapting to a world in transition’ – particularly appropriate amid rising global uncertainty and as the industry re-emerges from the worldwide pandemic.

The enthusiasm of the delegates reflected their eagerness to return to in-person events. Exciting and topical talks from experts focused on sustainability, recovery figures, loss prevention and social issues.

After a warm welcome from former IUMI President Richard Turner, the event kicked off with excellent presentations by Pat Ryan, Chairman and CEO of Ryan Specialty and RDML Wayne Arguin, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy at the US Coast Guard.

The conference highlights are copious, but one of the main events was the Facts & Figures, where the committee presented the global marine insurance figures and report.

Thank you again to AIMU for making this year’s event a great success. We appreciate the complexities of hosting a first event of this scale post-COVID. It is always inspiring to see so many professionals and experts participating in our annual conference, especially with a backdrop as scenic as Chicago – one of the most critical marine cities in the US.

A big thanks to everyone who took the time to attend IUMI 2022.

Now, the IUMI flag passes to the UK. We look forward to welcoming you to #IUMI2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The presentations are available to members to download here.
