Transport of cocoa beans – a focus on loss prevention

Print version

Cocoa is not only the key ingredient in chocolate, but it is also one of the top ten traded soft commodities. Globally, cocoa farmers produce around five million tonnes of cocoa beans per year. Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana are the two largest cocoa growing countries, accounting for 50% of global cocoa production. Europe is the leading processor of cocoa beans.

In this webinar IUMI Professional Partner Caroline Paul, Manager at DPS Africa, will discuss the transport of cocoa beans with a focus on loss prevention. Caroline will provide an in-depth exploration of critical aspects in cocoa bean transport:

  • Understanding the intrinsic nature of cocoa beans
  • The importance of proper storage methods
  • Tests and analyses to ensure quality
  • Managing risks during transport
  • Advanced techniques for dressing cocoa beans
  • The role of liners in maintaining integrity
  • Essential controls and monitoring practices
  • Infestation control
  • A comparison of new methodologies versus traditional practices

Following Caroline’s presentation, you will have an opportunity to ask questions. If you have any comments or queries prior to the session, please send them to education@iumi.com.
